MONTANA!

We just got our shipment of BEAUTIFUL Montana paint for sale at the Fresh Melt Water Spot……man oh man its gettin realer and realer….building has commenced down at the spot and its getting closer and closer to this true dream of ours becoming a reality. In this crazy economic climate we are in now, its important to stay true to your core beliefs, part of that for us was having our own retail outlet. When you are forced into doing only wholesale and the success of your line is based on the ability of buyers to spend money it gets real hard when money is tight on all fronts; and you may wind up changing your whole style up and take less risks with design just to see your shit on shelves. That, in part, is why we feel truly blessed and PSYCHED BEYOND DESCRIPTION to be opening our own store……stay tuned for more sneak peaks of what we will be selling at FMW, and details of our opening party….loooooooooooove you.

UNBELIEVABLE

12 years since Biggie Smalls was taken from us in Vegas. The Illest emcee of all time gunned down in his prime. Isn’t that usually how it goes? Put one in the air today for the nicest emcee ever to bless a microphone…..one love to Christopher Wallace AKA Biggie Smalls AKA the Notorious BIG.

I was 17 livin in manhattan when Biggie died so here’s some vintage Smalls when he was 17 living in Brooklyn.

RIP.

Polaroid rebirth

As many of may know Polaroid closed down its production of their instamatic film producing factories this year. It is very sad to see such a beautiful way to produce good looking film photos instantly (i know all you babies of the digital are like huh?!, my memory stick is instant as fuck!). Polaroids got a look all its own and it grabbed the analog film lovers interest immediately….well there’s a rebirth coming….

“Production of analog Instant Film stopped in June 2008, closing the factories in Mexico (Instant Packfilm production) and the Netherlands (Instant Integral production). Impossible b.v. has been founded with the concrete aim to re-invent and re-start production of analog INTEGRAL FILM for vintage Polaroid cameras. Therefore Impossible b.v. has acquired the complete film production equipment in Enschede (NL) from Polaroid, has signed a 10-year lease agreement on the factory building; and has engaged the most experienced team of Integral Film experts worldwide. The Impossible mission is NOT to re-build Polaroid Integral film but (with the help of strategic partners) to develop a new product with new characteristics, consisting of new optimised components, produced with a streamlined modern setup.“

Head over to the Impossible Project’s new website and show your support for what they are doing. Polaroid film is an important part of the history of photography and it shouldn’t be swept under the rug by the broom of the digital age….check them out and read up on what it is they are planning for the rebirth of polaroids in 2010 (or “oh ten” as we call it around meltwater camp)
